Willie Sobat recently finished his antique reproduction of a "Carolina Sideboard". This piece is unusually tall standing 38 1/2 inches tall. According to historical accounts, these sideboards or "huntboards" were used to serve food to horseback riders after the hunt. The riders, suffering from some degree of saddle soreness, were able to stand to eat from this sideboard. This particular piece is made from highly figured maple.
