Dedi received her knowledge and interest in muscle and bone from a Comparative Anatomy class at N.C. State in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. She sold her first two sculptures to Beval Sadlery in New Jersey to the late Bev Walter. Dedi has had work on the cover of “The Chronicle of the Horse” magazine cover three times. Additionally, Dedi created trophies for Steeplechase events, three years trophies for the Charlotte Steeplechase and a perpetual trophy for the Stoneybrook Steeplechase.
Her work has been mainly commissions with three first place awards at the Moore County Arts Festival, and other work located in Britain and South Africa. Dedi’s work has been in the Beresford Gallery in Maryland and Saratoga Springs, New York, as well as being represented by other galleries. Dedi wrote for SPUR Magazine as Roving Editor where she visited racetracks, racehorse farms, and sales events throughout the East.
Dedi reflects that “The greatest compliment I can remember is being compared to Remington.” She adds that she is in “quite a different category because she feels her work is more like present day replicas of English Horses.” Dedi’s other sculptures include a Blue Heron, a Golden Retriever with nursing pups, a Golden Lab, and other animals. Her favorite sculpture is of her Arabian Horse "Serka". Her commission works include a sculpture for Virginia Moss's 90th birthday, a racehorse of Cherokee Fellow, Four Ponies in Harness and various other horses and dogs.
Dedi's studio is on a small farm where she is surrounded by dogs and horses.
Recently she has taken up oil painting.
